TK-12 Technology Program
Al Allen, Technology Coordinator

Maricopa Unified School District has fully implemented a 1 to 1 laptop Chomebook or Tablet computer program for all TK-12 grade students.

The District employs a full-time technology coordinator/teacher who has designed and implemented an innovative technology plan. All classrooms have a new computer and flat screen monitor.  Each classroom is equipped with electronic-interactive white board technology.  In 2013, Every teacher received a new Laptop computer to plan and implement an engaging instructional program. All staff have access to up-to-date software and the Internet.  The district qualifies at the 90% E-rate grant level, based on the high-percentage of students qualifying for the Free and Reduced Meal program, and has taken full advantage of the E-rate grant program to support MUSD’s Technology Plan implementation.

Maricopa Elementary School has fully implemented a 1 to 1 laptop Chomebook computer program for all TK-5 Grade Students.  Students use iREADY, Education City, Study Island, Learning A-Z (Raz-kids), as well as many other software programs/Apps to support learning.

Maricopa Middle School has implemented a 1 to 1 Chomebook computer program. with two 30-laptop cart program for easy use. Teachers and students use technology for research, writing, reading, mathematics and other subject areas.

Maricopa High School has implemented a 1 to 1 Chomebook laptop computer program. Under this program, every high school student  received a laptop computer to use as an educational aid throughout each school day. The school’s on-site server now provides Internet access for each of the laptop units and individualized data storage for each student and teacher. The high school also enjoys an up-to-date computer lab, in which students produce multimedia presentations in addition to learning basic computer operations and repair skills.  The online iREADY program is utilized for core benchmark testing and analysis in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Daily attendance is taken electronically in each classroom with the SchoolWise software program, and all teachers use the Easy Grade Pro online grading program.  Students, parents, and administrators can access the online grade book at any time to monitor student progress.
